SIMPLY ACCOUNTING BY SAGE PRODUCT REVIEW
Simply Accounting has
recently been taken over by Sage Accounting. The New Releases of
their versions are taking them in a different direction than Quickbooks.
There are 4 versions
available for Simply Accounting: Simply Accounting Basic, Simply
Accounting Pro, Simply Accounting Premium, as well as a new Accountants'
Edition. Pro and Premium are also available in 2 & 6-User Editions.
As over 2/3 of all
accounting software is purchased at the entry level, Simply has
maintained their commitment to that level and again increased the
functionality of their Basic version.

Accounting:

Simply Accounting Basic - A
full featured accounting package, including payroll

Simply Accounting Pro -
Targeted for growing businesses
that need multiple user access and other specialized
functions around service and inventory. Pro features powered
up data search capabilities. Also new is detailed
project budgeting and the ability to synchronize Simply
Accounting customer and vendor lists with ACT! by Sage
Contact and Customer Manager.

Simply Accounting Premium -
Designed for larger businesses that may run multiple companies or
need more in-depth reporting and analysis. New features in the Pro version
are the added
ability to store, transfer and track inventory in
multiple locations. Premium also has
improved financial historical reporting and company
consolidation capabilities.
Observations when using
Simply Accounting's Pro Version:

Set-up of
the company is more time consuming than for Quickbooks versions,
however there are over 100 industry specific templates providing
basic accounts which can then be customized to your specifications.

The basic
interface has been updated from previous versions, and can be
customized to the fields you use most often.

The multi-user capability flows
seamlessly, and with 6 users online simultaneously, only once was
there a conflict in posting, which was resolved by waiting 5 seconds
and resending the information.

The
reporting features have improved greatly and allows you to save
templates of reports you generate on a repeat basis, retaining the
fields you've previously chosen.

Custom reports can be generated
using Microsoft Word or Excel, but not as seamlessly as with
Microsoft Small Business Accounting.

The Pro version includes Pocket PC
integration, which lets you create orders, invoices, and time slips
on your handheld and then synchronize with the accounting software.

Contains Business Performance
Reports which provide Ratios on the click of the mouse.
